Mark Barrott is a British electronic music producer, composer, and DJ, best known for his eclectic blend of downtempo, ambient, and Balearic sounds. Emerging in the 1990s first as drum'n' bass project Future Loop Foundation, he went on to master the electronic chillout arena with his soundscapes, often drawing comparisons to the laid-back vibe of the Mediterranean and the island culture of Ibiza, where he has spent much of his life. He founded the International Feel label in 2009 as a vehicle for his own artistic expression and for other like-minded artists in the genres of ambient, downtempo, and Balearic beats. His work has earned widespread acclaim for its subtle complexity and emotive warmth, with albums like Sketches from an Island (2015) and its additional volumes cementing his status as a prominent figure in the global chillout and Balearic music scenes. Mark Barrott’s music is often described as a soundtrack to sunlit afternoons and peaceful, introspective moments. His live DJ sets and productions continue to captivate listeners, embodying a sense of freedom, serenity, and exploration. In 2024, he paid tribute to his late partner Sara Kult-Smith on the poignant orchestral-inspired album Everything Changes, Nothing Ends.
