British indie rock band active in the 2010s, Marsicans broke up after the release of their only album Ursa Major. Formed in Leeds in 2011, it comprises James Newbigging (vocals, guitar), Oliver Jameson (guitar, vocals), Rob Brander (bass, keyboards) and Matthew McHale (drums). The quartet's blend of energetic rock and choral choruses yielded several singles from 2015 onwards, including "Arms of Another" (2016), "Swimming" (2017) and "Friends" and "Too Good" in 2017, following the release of the EP The Absence. Critically acclaimed, the band followed up with "Wake Up Freya" (2018) and "Your Eyes" (2019), before tackling the album Ursa Major, released in 2020 and ranked #49 in the UK charts. Despite her stage reputation and the encouragement of the press, Marsicans ends her career after a decade of activity on the independent scene.
