Masatoshi Nakamura

Masatoshi Nakamura is a Japanese actor and singer. He was born on February 1, 1951, in Onagawa, Miyagi. After graduating from Keio University, Masatoshi Nakamura joined the Bungakuza theater troupe in 1973. He debuted on television in 1974 on the show Warera Seishun and made his film debut the same year with Fureai. That same year, he kickstarted his music career with his debut single "Fureai," which topped the Japanese charts. This success was followed by several hit songs, including "Oretachi no Tabi" and "Koibito mo Nureru Machikado." Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Masatoshi Nakamura released numerous singles such as "Itsuka Machide Attanara" (1975), "Bongaeri" (1976), and "Kazeno Sumumachi" (1990). His albums from this period, including Fureai (1974), Sayonarano Suigara (1976), and Shy Guy Masatoshi (1979), grew his profile and consolidated his status in the Japanese music industry. At the same time, his acting career flourished with notable roles in films and television series. His music career continued into the 1980s and 90s, with the release of important albums such as MONDAY MORNING BLUES (1984) and HEART OF ENERGY (1994). His contributions to music and acting earned him spots on the prestigious Kōhaku Uta Gassen in 1982 and 2012. As years went on, newer generations started discovering his work thanks to retrospective releases such as Masatoshi Nakamura 45th Anniversary Single Collection 〜yes! on the way〜 (2019) and SONGS -Masatoshi Nakamura 50th Anniversary All Time Best- (2024), which peaked at number 53 on the Japanese Top 100.
