Matthew Wilder is an American musician, singer and producer who enjoyed a a brief period of chart success as a solo artist when his single 'Break My Stride' made it into the top five in the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK charts. He was born Matthew Weiner in New York in 1993 and started off his career in the music business during the 1970s as one half of the duo Matthew & Peter. The duo were part of the thriving Greenwich Village folk movement but despite releasing an album titled 'Under the Arch' (1972) they failed to make an impact on the wider US music scene. Weiner left New York in 1978 and relocated to LA where he forged a successful career as a session singer working for the advertising industry and also as a backing singer for artists such as Bette Midler and Rickie Lee Jones. He launched his solo career in the early '80s but despite a promising start with 'Break My Stride' in 1983 none of his future records made any impact on the charts and his final release was the 1985 single 'Bouncin' Off the Walls'. Weiner continues to work in the entertainment industry as a songwriter, producer and session vocalist.
