Doroth Helena de Sousa Alves, known by her stage name MC Pipokinha ("Little Popcorn"), is a Brazilian singer, dancer, and digital influencer notable for her bold lyrics and presentations featuring provocative content. She was born on August 13, 1998, in Tubarão, Santa Catarina. Raised as the adopted daughter of a Mormon family, her upbringing was steeped in religious music and rituals. In 2019, MC Pipokinha moved from Tubarão to São Paulo, initially without a permanent place to stay. Armed only with a cellphone and borrowed clothes, she connected with the funk music community in São Paulo. Initially, she gained recognition as a dancer in funk music videos and became known for her charismatic on-screen persona. MC Pipokinha's music career officially launched in 2020, and she quickly gained public attention for her lyrics and vocal style set to funk beats. By 2022, her social media presence exploded, making her a representative figure for a new generation of Generation Z idols. That year, she signed a contract with São Paulo funk production company Novo Império and came under the management of Wagner Magalhães, who had previously managed MC Fioti. In 2022, she also released "Fode na Intenção do Bota," a collaboration with DJ Buiu. Among her most popular songs are "Bota na Pipokinha," "Tira as Crianças da Sala," and "Eu Sou a Pipokinha," which have garnered over 2.4 million monthly listeners across streaming platforms. In 2022, she won the Sobre Funk Award for Best Singer.
