After beginning her musical journey in teenage bands and laying the foundations for her country-pop career as a host in Nashville karaoke bar Printer's Alley, Louisiana native Meghan Linsey (born on December 10, 1985 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana) tried her luck on US reality competition show Can You Duet – and it paid off. Her previous experience served her well; she scooped the show's top spot and soon signed a recording contract with Big Machine Records as a duo alongside her boyfriend Joshua Scott Jones. As Steel Magnolia, the pair released their Top Five Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart debut single "Keep On Lovin' You" in August 2009, before parting ways in 2014. Linsey, who picked a twangy cover of OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" as her first solo single, was given a career boost when she appeared on season 8 of The Voice and came second place on Blake Shelton's team. Two solo EPs landed in as many years – 2014's self-titled effort and 2015's Believer – with Linsey releasing the latter after returning to Nashville. Making a bold, pop-aligned statement with her groovy second self-titled EP in 2017, she spent the next few years releasing music that reflected the melting pot of influences she experienced growing up in and around New Orleans, including stomping 2016 single "Exes and Friends". 2020 ushered in the release of the reflective ballad "The Mourning" and the following year saw the stripped-back contemporary country of "Nowhere With You".
