Watanabe Mei is a multifaceted singer-songwriter who draws inspiration from a wide array of genres including R&B, soul, indie pop, and Showa period music. Her journey into music began during her middle school years, catalyzed by periods of non-attendance, and she formally initiated her artistic career at the age of 19. While pursuing a university degree in art and working part-time at a record store, she managed to produce and release her debut EP Hikari entirely on her iPhone, handling everything from track making to recording. The lead track from this EP, Memai was spotlighted on J-WAVE's "SONAR TRAX" as a recommended new song. By October 2024, Watanabe Mei continued her ascendancy in the music industry with the release of "Suisei (The Sign)" a new song produced by Shinichi Osawa.
