Melissmell

Mélanie Francette Coulet, known as Melissmell after the lemon balm plant and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", was born in Valence, Drôme, on February 17, 1981. Since 2004, the guitarist and performer has been touring the south of France, playing festivals and then Paris, at Les Trois Baudets and L'Européen. Beneath the protesting facet of the song "Aux armes", which revealed her in 2010, lie more intimate melodies on her debut album Écoute S'il Pleut, released the following year. In 2013, her successor Droit Dans La Gueule du Loup confirmed Melissmell's breakthrough on the French chanson scene. A follower of the independent and alternative scene that saw her grow up, Melissmell recorded a third album entitled L'Ankou, released in 2016. Melissmell has won several awards, including four in 2011 alone, when she twice won the Prix Mosutaki and the "Coup de coeur" and "Révélation scénique" awards from the Académie Charles-Cros.
