Meme Tokyo is a Japanese girl group formed by Dear Stage in 2019. They debuted with the single "Melancholic Circus" on December 25, 2019, quickly making a name for themselves in the J-pop scene. Initially introduced as the junior group of Dempagumi.inc, the original lineup featured Asuka, Koromo, Rito, Soli, and Mew, a former member of the second generation of Bis. Following their debut, the group released their second single, "Retro Future," in March 2020, and continued their momentum with "Moratorium Aquarium" in July 2020. In 2021, Meme Tokyo released their fourth single, "Antisuggest," on April 21. They then made their major label debut with Toy's Factory, releasing their fifth single, "The Struggle Is Real," which marked a significant milestone in their career. The group's success continued with their sixth single, "Animore," released on April 13, 2022, which peaked at number 17 on the Oricon singles chart. Meme Tokyo's debut album, Meme Tokyo., was released in February 2023 and peaked at number 31 on the Oricon chart, solidifying their presence in the J-pop genre. Later in 2023, they released their first EP, Memetic Infection. In 2024, Meme Tokyo's second extended play Memetic World climbed to number 88 on the Japanese Billboard Hot 100.
