Chinese singer, Meng Mei Qi was born on October 15, 1998 in Luoyang, Henan, China. Moving to South Korea as a trainee at 15 years of age, she made her debut with Chinese girl group WJSN (also known as Cosmic Girls), under the Starship Entertainment label, in collaboration with the Chinese agency Yuehua Entertainment. Debuting with a cover of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” on December 21, 2015, the group released their first EP Would You Like? in February 2016, peaking at number 7 on the Gaon chart. In 2018, Meng participated in Chinese reality television show Produce 101 and after receiving over 185 million votes, became the center singer of Rocket Girls, performing in both groups before launching her solo career in January 2019 with hit song “Helios” from the Chinese science fiction film The Wandering Earth prior to her April EP debut Jiang in April, which attracted record album sales. Recording a further two EPs Love Not Love and Qi Yi Double Pupil in November 2020 and October 2021 respectively, Meng’s fourth EP White Frequency appeared on November 7, 2022, with lead single “Alien” charting at number 10.
