Meryl

Meryl was born Cindy Elismar on September 24, 1995, in Lamentin, Martinique. This French singer-songwriter and rapper sings in French and Martinique Creole. She grew up in Saint-Esprit, Martinique, in a rich musical environment, influenced by the musical tastes of her father, who listened to Haitian kompa, salsa, reggae, dancehall and bouyon. In 2013, her cousin Specta, a rapper, heard a cover she had recorded of a Rihanna song. Specta decided to help her structure her songs and hone her style. Together, they collaborate on the tracks "ADN" and "Agression textuelle". In 2015, Meryl was spotted by Mr. Nin Music and recorded new tracks, including "I Luv Dat" and "An Chanjé". After leaving Mr. Nin Music, she joined ETMG and collaborated with various artists, contributing to albums by SCH, Soprano, Shay and Niska. In 2019, Meryl made a name for herself with the single "Béni", followed by several other hits such as "Ah lala", "Wollan " and "La Brume". On February 21, 2020, she released her first rap and dancehall-tinged mixtape Jour avant Caviar, featuring tracks like "Coucou" and "Billets". In December 2020, she released the Quarantaine EP ahead of the release of her Jour avant Caviar 2 album (2021). In 2021, Meryl collaborates with Hatik on "Maman qui pleure". In November 2022, Meryl signs with Universal Music France. In February 2023, she returns with the single "Jack Sparrow" and releases the Ozoror EP in April, which includes the track "Coca-Cola Mentos". In 2024, Meryl follows up with her first studio album Caviar I in June 2024, after the release of several singles such as "Ton ami" and "Dernière Escale".
