Metamuse is one of the names by which the group ZOC (Zone Out of Control) is known, briefly rebranding as such in 2022 but reverting back to the ZOC name less than a year later. ZOC is a Japanese alternative idol girl group formed in September 2018. The group was founded by Seiko Oomori and originally consisted of members Karen Aizome, Kanano Senritsu, Katy Kashī, Marina Nishii, Fin Kitoki, and Sayaka Unagi. The group's debut single, "Family Name," was released on April 30, 2019, under T-Palette Records, marking their official entry into the J-pop and rock music scene. Their energetic performances and unique visual aesthetic helped them land their first major concert, We are ZOC, at Zepp Tokyo in September 2019. Despite various lineup changes, including the departure of Fin Kitoki and Sayaka Unagi, the group continued to rise in popularity. In 2020, former Angerme member Maro Kannagi joined the group, and ZOC made their major label debut with Avex Trax. They released several successful singles, including "Age of ZOC / Don't Trust Teenager" and their first studio album, PvP, in June 2021. The group rebranded as Metamuse in July 2022 but reverted to the name ZOC in November 2023. ZOC released their eighth single, "Queen of Tone / Crush Alone," in January of 2024. A second full-length titled Sumrs arrived later that year.
