Mick Ronson

A guitarist first and foremost, in 1969 Ronson began a fruitful collaboration with David Bowie, who would make him a rock legend as the bandleader of his Spiders From Mars during the Ziggy Stardust era. Ronson arranged most of Bowie's albums and worked with him on Lou Reed's Transformer. In 1974, he released two solo albums (Slaughter On The 10th Avenue and Play Don't Worry), which met with little success, despite a few Bowie songs. He returned to the stage to accompany Mott The Hoople, Ian Hunter, Bob Dylan and then Van Morrison. He then turned to production, working with Roger Mc Guinn (ex-Byrds), David Johansen and several punk bands, among others. A poor composer, Ronson, who died in 1993, is best remembered as one of the creators of the "glitter" sound, thanks to his collaborations with some of the masters of the genre.
