Mickey Newbury

Critically acclaimed songwriter Mickey Newbury is regarded as a country "outlaw", a renovator of the genre who, in the space of a handful of albums, developed a cult following before disappearing. Released between 1969 and 1973, the albums It Looks Like Rain, 'Frisco Mabel Joy and Heaven Help the Child are part of a series commonly referred to as the American Trilogy. His well-crafted melodies and dark lyrics made Mickey Newbury the equal of the great country figures. The Texan, who continued to record on smaller and smaller labels, died in 2002 at the age of 62.
