Hailing from San Mateo, California, R&B-leaning singer-songwriter Michaela ”Mickey” Shiloh (born January 25th, 1992) first emerged on the scene in the late 2000s as a frequent collaborator of Chad Beatz’s, co-writing and lending her vocals to songs for the likes of Twista and Tracy Williams. After catching the attention of GRAMMY-winning artist and music mogul Darkchild in 2009, she exclusively signed to his label for two years, penning lyrics for numerous high-profile pop, rap and EDM artists including Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and Pitbull while also working on solo material. Her debut EP, DEAR FUTURE, arrived in 2011, marking the beginning of a near-annual run of original projects. Meanwhile, she continued to contribute to album tracks for the likes of Iggy Azalea, Dada Life and LL Cool J, often providing her own guest vocals. Her 2016 single “Drunk on the Mic” propelled her to new heights after it was championed by celebrity Kylie Jenner, prompting an influx of new followers for Shiloh and a renewed industry interest in her songwriting abilities. After setting up her own label, BDRM Records, the same year; collaborating with Vic Mensa; and releasing a string of LPs and EPs, she was named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Music for 2019. 2020 was one of her most fruitful years to date, and saw her release a joint EP with Drake Murphy entitled Enjoy the Heartache as well as the ten-track LP Amnesia and the two-part album Before the World Ends, aptly named amidst a global pandemic.
