Minor Victories

Minor Victories is an alternative rock supergroup featuring Slowdive singer Rachel Goswell, Mogwai and Editors guitarists Stuart Braithwaite and Justin Lockey, and his brother, bassist and film director James Lockey. The project, a cross between dream pop and noise rock inspired by the shoegaze movement of the 1990s, was initiated by Justin Lockey, who was looking for a female singer for an experimental rock EP. The group expanded and the idea of a debut album was born. Announced on social networks in July 2015, this one, recorded at Castle of Doom, Mogwai's studio in Scotland, features external collaborations from Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon) and James Graham (The Twilight Sad). A video called Film One accompanies the launch of the single "A Hundred Ropes", followed in June 2016 by the album Minor Victories, produced by Tony Doogan.
