Minzy

Gong Min-ji, known as Minzy, is a South Korean singer, rapper, and dancer born on January 18, 1994, in Seoul. Minzy, the granddaughter of renowned folk dancer Gong Ok-jin, was discovered for her dance talents at a young age. After a video of her dancing went viral, YG Entertainment's CEO recruited her in sixth grade. Minzy debuted in 2009 as the main dancer of the K-pop group 2NE1, alongside Park Bom, Sandara Park, and CL. The group quickly rose to fame with their hit single "Fire," and Minzy, being the youngest member, gained significant recognition. In November 2009, she and CL released the digital single "Please Don't Go." In 2015, while 2NE1 was on hiatus, Minzy founded her own dance studio, Millennium Dance Academy, in Seoul. She officially left 2NE1 and YG Entertainment in April 2016. Later that year, she signed with Music Works to pursue a solo career. Minzy released her first solo EP, Minzy Work 01. Uno, in April 2017, featuring the title track "Ninano." The EP debuted at number 2 on the Billboard World Albums Chart while cracking the Top 10 in South Korea. She also released her first English solo single, "All of You Say," in December 2018. After leaving Music Works in 2020, Minzy founded her company, MZ Entertainment, and released the single "Lovely." Following the release of the 2021 singles "Teamo" and "Fantabulous," she participated in the reality singing competition Double Trouble in 2022, where she performed duets with Inseong, Jang Hyun-seung, and Taeil.
