Swedish singer-songwriter Mohombi Nzasi Moupondo, who goes by just his first name, was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and grew up in Stockholm where he played music from a young age and attended the Royal College of Music. He found success in 2000 with his brother Djo Moupondo in the hip-hop duo Avalon, who blended African rhythms with dancehall and hip-hop and had several hits. Mohombi released his debut solo single 'Bumpy Ride' in 2010 and his first album 'MoveMeant' in 2011. Another album, 'Universe', came out in 2014. Featuring with Wisin on the track 'Baddest Girl in Town' on Pitbull's 2015 Latin rock album 'Dale', the single went to number seven on Billboard's Latin Digital Song Sales Chart and number 12 on the Hot Latin Songs Chart. Mohombi also collaborated with Faydee and Costi on Shaggy's 'I Need Your Love' (2015), which went to number 20 on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 and with Akon on Joey Montana's 'Picky' (2016), which peaked at number 15 on the Latin Songs Chart. In 2019, Mohombi reached the finals of Sweden's music competition 'Melodifestivalen 2019' with the single 'Hello'.
