Moonspell has been a prolific Portuguese metal band since the mid-1990s. Fernando Ribeiro's debut Wolfheart (1995), The Antidote (2003) and Night Eternal (2008) are among the band's most notable achievements. The Portuguese band's musical style, which is closely linked to gothic metal, is also strongly tinged with dark metal and what critics have called "avant-garde metal", due to the band's experimental leanings, a true flagship of Portuguese metal. Alpha Noir in 2012 paints an apocalyptic picture of our times. As adept as ever at expressing intense climates, Moonspell released Extinct in March 2015.
