Morad El Khattouti El Horami, known simply as Morad, is a Spanish drill artist of Moroccan descent. Born in 1999 in the city of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, he began rapping at the age of 14 and shared his first songs with his group of friends via WhatsApp audios. After spending a troubled adolescence in the suburbs of La Florida, including an arrest for assaulting a law officer in 2017, he made his debut on video-sharing platforms in 2018 with the singles “No son de Calle” and “La Vida Loca.” The following year, Morad released his debut album M.D.L.R. (an acronym for the French slang “Mec de la Rue”), which touched on sensitive subjects such as abuse of authority, social injustice, and structural racism. In 2020, he scored his first viral hit with “Motorola,” a tribute to the 2000s popular flip-phones that spread like wildfire over the Internet and racked up streams by the millions. Only a year later, his single “Soñar” managed to enter the Spanish charts at Number 78.
