Maurício Alberto Kaisermann, better known to the world as Morris Albert, is one of the most enduring and recognizable voices in Brazilian popular song. Born in Rio de Janeiro on September 7th 1951 to an Austrian immigrant family, Albert began his involvement with music performing in a number of local bands before launching his solo career as a singer-songwriter. His very first album, released in 1975, was a smash success that propelled him to the top of the charts. The title track from the album, the romantic and forlorn ballad “Feelings,” became Albert’s signature song, turning into a massive hit in the soft-rock and easy-listening boom of the mid 70s. Since then, Albert has released a string of singles, including “She’s My Girl” and “Sweet Loving Man”, as well as albums such as 1979’s Once Upon a Man, 1983’s Beginnings, and 1999’s Lover. In 2004, he released Cuore, a collection of pop ballads in English and Italian. The album’s title track, a duet with Italian singer and actress Mietta, gained success and radio play.
