Mouse on Mars is an electronic duo from Germany founded in 1993. The duo consists of Jan Stephan Werner and Andi Toma. The sometimes complex song structures can be categorized as intelligent dance music and ambient. Mouse on Mars' music also contains elements of techno, glitch, breakbeat, post-rock and krautrock. Their first releases included the EP Frosch and the album Vulvaland in 1994. Mouse in Mars were particularly productive until the mid-2000s. The electro duo reached number 76 in Germany with their 1999 album Niun Niggung. In 2007, the album Tromatic Reflexxions was released together with the singer of the rock band The Fall, Mark E. Smith, but under the band name Von Südenfed. Further longplayers were originally to follow under this name. However, it remained a Von Südenfed album. Since 2005, Mouse on Mars have repeatedly performed at national and international events organized by the Goethe-Institut. After a short break, new studio material followed in 2012 with Parastrophics. In April 2022, Mouse on Mars provide the appropriate sound for an art exhibition at the Lehnbachhaus in Munich. The longplayer Spatial Jitter is released to coincide with the exhibition.
