Mr Twin Sister is an American band hailing from New York City whose smooth blend of chillwave, indie pop, dream pop, and disco earned them a loyal cult following throughout the years. Featuring Andrea Estella on lead vocals, Dev Gupta on keyboards, Gabe D'Amico on bass, and Eric Cardona on guitar, the band relocated to Brooklyn and emerged onto the scene in 2008 with the EP Vampires with Dreaming Kids, marking their first release under the name Twin Sister. A second extended play titled Color Your Life arrived in 2010, earning recognition in both the UK, where it was released on Domino Records, and the USA, through Infinite Best. "Meet the Frownies," one of the tracks from the EP, would later be sampled by rapper Kendrick Lamar on his 2012 hit single "The Recipe" featuring Dr. Dre. After officially signing with Domino Records in 2011, Mr Twin Sister delivered their studio debut, In Heaven, later that year. Despite the critical acclaim, the group wasn't satisfied with the results and parted ways with Domino shortly after. Following a series of unfortunate events that included a nearly fatal car accident while touring and a legal dispute over their name, the band renamed themselves Mr Twin Sister and dropped a self-titled album in 2014. Produced by Jon Low and members of Ava Luna, the LP represented a complete reinvention of their sound, incorporating elements from funk, jazz, disco, and electronic music. Over the next few years, Mr Twin Sister honed in on this newly-found musical identity on releases like 2018's Salt, their first one to feature lyrics in Spanish, as well as the disco-tinged album Al Mundo Azul, unveiled in 2022.
