Rapper Önder Doğan (January 30, 1984), aka Murda, was born in the Netherlands to Turkish parents and then relocated to Istanbul during his teenage years. There, he discovered hip-hop thanks to one of his cousins. Upon his return to the Netherlands, he settled in Eindhoven and started to record his own material with the help of fellow MCs Fresku, SpaceKees, and Jiggy Djé, who signed him to his Noah’s Ark label. Turkse Pizza, his debut EP, dropped in 2008 and was followed by the album De Kassier: Een Monnie Album in 2010. A second EP titled Goeie Dingen saw the light in 2014 and featured guest spots by the hip-hop collective Lefensmannen and rapper Bokoesam, while 2016’s We Doen Ons Best compiled all of the singles Murda released on a monthly basis during 2015. After breaking into the Top 10 with the full-length Bruin Brood (2017), he branched into the Turkish market with the albums BABA (2019) and DOĞA (2020), which spawned the Number 1 hit “Eh Baba.” This success led to a third Turkish album, Made in Turkey (2020), recorded in collaboration with rapper Ezhel. A year later, Murda entered the German charts for the first time with the single “Gece Gündüz,” peaking at Number 36.
