NewDad

Julie Dawson (vocalist and rhythm guitarist), Áindle O'Beirn (former bassist, who left in 2022) and Fiachra Parslow (drums) formed Galway indie-poppers NewDad in secondary school in 2018. After appointing Sean O'Dowd as bassist, the newly minted Irish quartet introduced themselves to the public with a string of singles in 2020: "How," "Swimming," "Cry," "Blue," and viral hit "I Don't Recognise You." They cemented their bruised dream-pop sound on 2021's EP Waves, which housed the aforementioned singles "Blue" and "I Don't Recognise You" and was recorded in Belfast with engineer Chris Ryan. The group's follow-up EP Banshee built on the fuzzy loveliness of their debut, propelled by Julie Dawson's bittersweet vocal, and was met with another pair of singles in 2022: "Say It" and "ILY2." Now with new bassist Cara Joshi in tow—who joined the band in March 2022 after they moved to London —NewDad signed with Atlantic Records UK for their debut full-length, MADRA. The LP was released in January 2024 and teased by the singles "In My Head," "Break In," "Angel" "Let Go," "Nightmares" and "White Ribbons."
