French pop-rock band from Rennes, Niagara was formed in 1982 around the duo of Daniel Chenevez (keyboards) and Muriel Moreno (vocals), complemented by guitarist José Tamarin. Tamarin left the group in 1986 (he died in 2019 at the age of 68), shortly before the release of a debut album, Encore un Dernier Baiser, featuring Niagara's first hits, "Tchiki Boum " (on which Étienne Daho provides backing vocals), "Je dois m'en aller " and "L'amour à la plage". Two years later, it was the turn of Quel Enfer! to enrich Niagara's discography, this time with hits such as "J'ai tout essayé", "Assez!" and "Soleil d'hiver". With Religion, released in 1990, Niagara's sound became even harder, as on the devastatingly guitar-driven anthem "J'ai vu". But after a final opus entitled La Vérité (1992), less successful than its predecessors, the duo split up, leaving Muriel Moreno and Daniel Chenevez to pursue their solo careers. However, the public has not forgotten this key band of the 1980s, and is particularly pleased with the Flammes compilation, featuring 18 remastered tracks, released in 2002, which sold over 100,000 copies.
