Nice & Smooth is an influential American hip-hop duo formed in 1986 in the Bronx, New York, by Gregory O. "Greg Nice" Mays and Darryl O. "Smooth B" Barnes. The duo is renowned for their catchy, upbeat tracks and smooth, clever lyricism, which significantly contributed to the evolution of East Coast hip-hop during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Greg Nice took on the roles of rapper and producer, bringing a lively, energetic flair to their music, while Smooth B complemented with his laid-back style and intricate rhymes. Their debut album, Nice & Smooth (1989), gained them significant attention with tracks like "Early to Rise" Their second album, Ain't a Damn Thing Changed (1991), featured the hit "Sometimes I Rhyme Slow" which became a crossover success, blending hip-hop with soft rock samples. This was followed by Jewel of the Nile in 1994, maintaining their status in the hip-hop community with tracks like "Old to the New".
