Nicola Piovani

A prolific composer and conductor, Nicola Piovani is one of the leading exponents of the Italian school of film music. After making his debut with Marco Bellocchio(Au Nom du Père, 1972), he took over from Nino Rota for Federico Fellini's last three films: Ginger et Fred (1986), Intervista (1987) and La Voce della Luna (1990). Specializing in Italian auteur cinema, he was also a regular collaborator with Nanni Moretti(Palombella Rossa in 1989, Diario Intime in 1993) and the Taviani brothers(Good Morning Babylon, 1987). His breakthrough came in 1998 with the score for Roberto Begnini's La Vie Est Belle, which won him a Hollywood Oscar. Made a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2008, Nicola Piovani composed the music for Je Vais Bien, Ne T'en Fais Pas (2006) and La Conquête in 2011.
