Nieve Ella Pickering, born on 1 January 2003, in Albrighton, Shropshire, is a rising British singer-songwriter known for her indie pop sound and candid storytelling. Growing up, she was inspired by artists like Billie Eilish and Sam Fender, whose live performance in Birmingham in August 2021 left a lasting impression on her musical direction. In 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, she discovered her late father's guitar and taught herself to play by studying online tutorials. She quickly began composing her own songs, with "Four Years Gone" marking her first original piece. Her debut single, "Girlfriend," was released in July 2022 under AWAL, followed by the EP Young & Naive in December 2022, featuring the track "19 In a Week," which delves into themes of adolescence. She has supported notable acts such as Dylan, Inhaler, and the Courteeners, and is a member of the London-based collective Loud LDN, which champions women and genderqueer musicians. In September 2023, she released her second EP, Lifetime of Wanting, which includes tracks like "Big House," "His Sofa," and "Your Room." Both of her EPs charted on the UK Independent Album Chart, with Young & Naive reaching number 38. A new EP, Watch It Ache and Bleed, was delivered towards the end of 2024 and yielded a hit single on the UK chart in "Ganni Top (She Gets What She Needs)".
