Nils Frahm

Nils Frahm – born in Hamburg, Germany on September 20, 1982 - is a musician, composer, and producer who garnered international attention with his innovative approach to the piano. He released the solo albums Wintermusik and The Bells in 2009 and collaborated with cellist Anne Müller on 7fingers in 2010. His breakthrough came with his solo release Felt in 2011, on which he created what has become his signature sound by placing felt on the hammers of a piano. He also works with vintage electronic equipment including drum machines and synthesizers. He has recorded with many artists including Peter Broderick, Davide Rossi, Ólafur Arnalds, F. S. Blumm, Frederic Gmeiner and Sebastian Singwald. His solo catalog includes releases such as Streichelfisch (2005),Electric Piano (2008), Screws (2012), Spaces (2013), Solo (2015) - All Melody (2018) - which peaked at Number 2 on Billboard's Classical Albums Chart – All Encores (2019), Empty (2020), Tripping with Nils Frahm (2020), and Graz (2021). He has also released several EPs, a 2015 mix album in the popular Late Night Tales series, and composed the scores for the films Victoria (2015), and Ellis (2016).
