Nubiyan Twist

Founded in Leeds, England by guitarist / producer Tom Excell, Nubiyan Twist is a musical collective that blends afrobeat, jazz, reggae, hip-hop, soul, Latin music, dance, and world music into their own unique style. As a live act, the band is a 10 to 12-piece ensemble incorporating two vocalists, a four-piece horn section, a driving international rhythm section, and electronics. Their recordings have featured guest appearances from Mulatu Astatke, Tony Allen, and others. Nubiyan Twist released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2015. Their second album, Jungle Run, was released in 2019 and was followed two years later by Freedom Fables (2021), which included the singles "Tittle Tattle" (featuring Cherise), "Buckle Up" (featuring Soweto Kinch), and "If I Know" (featuring K.O.G.). In 2024, Nubiyan Twist returned with the singles “Lights Out” (featuring Nile Rodgers), “All the Same” (featuring Ria Moran), and “Carry Me” (featuring Seun Kuti), all of which appeared on their fourth album Find Your Flame. Nubiyan Twist continues to tour the world and expand their audience.
