Nuttea

Oliviera Lara, born in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, on December 26, 1968, is better known as Nuttea or Daddy Nuttea. Arriving in Paris at the age of six, he was drawn to reggae, which he began playing in the late 1980s with the group Hi-Fight International, featuring singer Tonton David. He released his first album, Paris-Kingston-Paris (1993), and made a name for himself four years later with his duet with Pierpoljak, "Agitateur", before breaking through as a solo artist with the album Retour aux Sources and his cover of Bob Marley's "Natural Mystic ". After notable collaborations with IAM, on the soundtrack to the film La Haine (1995), then on the album L' École du Micro d'Argent (1997), the year 2000 saw his greatest success with Un Signe du Temps and its five singles, including "Elle te rend dingue". Guest stars include Akhenaton, Jamaican Luciano and a hidden track remix by rhythm section Sly & Robbie. He took part in the soundtrack to the film Taxi 2 (2000) and sang with UB40 on "Cover Up" (2001). Although he again appeared in the French charts with the album Urban Voodoo in 2004, at number 44, Nuttea disappeared from the radar for almost a decade, until the release in 2013 of Mister Reggae Music, still featuring IAM members Akhenaton and Shurik'n, as well as Balik and Demarco. Another decade passed in silence before a surprise return in 2024 with the album Tribulations, featuring contributions from Chilla, Kabaka Pyramid, King Kong & Beenie Man and LMK & Pinchers.
