Odile Bailleux is a French organist, harpsichordist and pedagogue who has performed at the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Born in Trappes (Yvelines) on December 30, 1939, she studied piano at the Conservatoire de Versailles, then organ at the École César-Franck in Paris, with Édouard Souberbielle. She graduated in 1965, assisting Antoine Reboulot on the grand organ at Saint-Germain-des-Prés church, before becoming titular organist with André Isoir in 1973. Meanwhile, in 1969, she worked on the works of J. S. Bach in Frankfurt with master Helmut Walcha. In 1975, she and her partner, oboist Michel Henry, formed the group Musique-Ensemble, which plays on period instruments, before joining Jean-Claude Malgoire's orchestra La Grande Écurie du Roy, in which Odile Bailleux also plays harpsichord. Successively professor at the Bourg-la-Reine Conservatoire in 1980, member of the jury of the Bruges International Organ Competition (1982) and titular organist at the Notre-Dame des Blancs-Manteaux church, the musician's right arm was paralyzed by a vascular accident in 1992, and she devoted herself to teaching until 2004. Odile Bailleux's recordings include a recital of works by Froberger in 1977 for the Stil label, programs dedicated to Charpentier, Boyvin or Correa de Arauxo, and a volume by Grigny, recorded in Albi in 1983 and awarded a Diapason d'or on its re-release in 2009. His Art de la Fugue by Bach, recorded in 1987, remains unpublished. The organist died on November 18, 2024 at the age of 84.
