Of Montreal has been writing luminous psychedelic songs since its inception in 1997. Heading the band is Kevin Barnes, who imposes his vision and fleshes out the majority of the Athens, Georgia-based group's tracks. From the initial lo-fi framework, the compositions have gradually become more unbridled, and the band has brilliantly integrated the hottest funk and the most festive disco. In 2008, Of Montreal emerged from the underground with the album Skeletal Lamping, attracting increasing media interest. After False Priest (2010), mastermind Kevin Barnes single-handedly arranged the multicolored, tortured symphony of Paralytic Stalks (2012). In 2013, he turns to folk rock with Lousy With Sylvianbriar. The following album, Aureate Gloom (2015), showcases the band's many psychedelic and symphonic facets, while Innocence Reaches (2016), has glam rock highlights.
