Finding fame as part of Southern hip-hop superstars Migos, rapper Offset scored his own big hit 'Ric Flair Drip' in 2017 and regularly made headlines because of his fraught, high profile relationship with Cardi B. Growing up in Lawrenceville, Georgia, where was born on December 14, 1991, Kiari Kendrell Cephus spent much of his life with cousin Quavo and Quavo's nephew Takeoff, and as a child he enjoyed his first taste of the music industry when he danced in videos for Whitney Houston and TLC. The three all lived together with Quavo's mother for a period and began taking their love of music more seriously when they started recording as Polo Club in 2008, releasing their first mixtape 'Juug Season' as Migos in 2011. From an abandoned house in a suburb north of Atlanta that they converted into a make-shift recording studio, they hustled their way up through the local scene with the track 'Bando' and broke into the mainstream when Gucci Mane spotted their talent and Drake remixed their debut single 'Versace'. They went on to reach the top 20 with the album 'Yung Rich Nation' in 2015 and were partly responsible for popularising the dab dance craze with single 'Look at My Dab', before their lurching, low-slung, trap hit 'Bad and Boujee' shot to number one in the US charts in 2016. Throughout Migos' rise to fame Offset struggled with legal problems with his love life becoming a tabloid saga too, as his turbulent relationship with rap queen Cardi B developed into marriage and Offset's fourth child. His talent was never in doubt, though, and his swaggering gangsta tales and soul-bearing rhymes helped send the Migos albums 'Culture' and 'Culture II' to number one in 2017 and 2018, while his collaboration album 'Without Warning' with 21 Savage and Metro Boom was regarded as one of the best hip-hop records of the year. Featuring appearances from Big Rube, CeeLo Green, J. Cole and Cardi B, the album 'Father of 4' reached number four on the US charts in 2019. Migos released Culture III two year later, and Offset returned to his solo career with 2023's Set It Off, which reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
