OG Maco

Born in College Park, Georgia on April 23, 1992, Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr. began his career in the band Dr. Doctor, where he played guitar and sang, before turning to rap under the name Maco Mattox, then OG Maco. Between several mixtapes and EPs, he achieved his only chart success with his second single "U Guessed It", whose remix with 2 Chainz reached #90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #21 on the US rap charts in 2014. The track from his third EP OG Maco is followed by numerous releases including the albums Children of the Rage (2017), Legends Live Forever with Kino Beats (2019), Maco Got That Flame (2020) and The God of Rage (2021) and the mixtapes OG Zay with Zaytoven (2015) and The Lord of Rage (2016). Injured with several fractures in a car accident on July 28, 2016, the rapper is diagnosed in 2019 with a rare skin infection that disfigures his face. He struggles with the resulting depression, before shooting himself in the head. Hospitalized, he died on December 26, 2024, at the age of 32, after spending two weeks in a coma.
