Ogre You Asshole

Ogre You Asshole, a Japanese rock band hailing from Nagano, draws inspiration from iconic acts such as Modest Mouse, Fugazi, Talking Heads, and Can. The group was signed to major label VAP in 2009 and has garnered praise from notable guitarist Johnny Marr. Formed in the nineties by Manabu Deto and his elder brother under the name "Joy Division," they initially covered songs by Nirvana and Beck. After changes in lineup, including the addition of Norihito Hiraide and Kei Mabuchi, and the departure of original drummer Arata Nishi due to health reasons, Takashi Katsuura joined the band. Their first demo was produced in 2004, leading to support performances with renowned domestic and international acts like Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Foo Fighters, Art School, The Dresden Dolls, and their primary influence, Modest Mouse. They released their major debut single "Pinhole"(2009) which was featured on the Nano-Mugen Compilation 2009 and served as the ending theme for the anime Sōten Kōro. Their first album under VAP, titled Foglamp (2009) included a DVD featuring music videos for "Pinhole" and "Headlight". With Manabu Deto, Kei Mabuchi, Takashi Katsuura, and Takashi Shimizu as members, they continue to make waves in the Japanese rock scene with their distinctive sound and energetic performances.
