Born on February 2, 1974 in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, Omar Chakil arrived in Paris shortly after his birth. Torn between his Lebanese origins and the French culture in which he was immersed, Omar Chakil forged an identity with different horizons, nourished by soul music and jazz, in particular Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Wonder. He joined the Paris Conservatoire at the age of 16 and returned to Lebanon to follow his family. After studying communications, Omar Chakil moved to Paris, where he dreamed of a career as a singer. In 1999, he signed with Warner Records and recorded his first single, "Victimes du temps". The song reached number 35 in the charts and proved a hit with the public, followed by "Tous les amants du monde " (2000), which had a more discreet impact. The singer followed this up with a debut album, OC (2000), and then "L'amour a eu raison de moi " (2001), both of which failed to win over the public. Following administrative problems, Omar Chakil encountered difficulties in recording his second album, leaving the public in suspense.
