Omar Sosa

Cuban multi-instrumentalist and migratory musician, Omar Sosa (b. 1965) astonishes with his musical maturity and delights with the finesse of his arrangements, which blend jazz, urban music and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Since his debut album Omar, Omar (1996) and, above all, Free Roots (1997), he has recorded albums both solo and in the company of a multitude of partners from diverse backgrounds, with incredible appetite and powerful energy, such as the sumptuous Ceremony (2010) and Alma (2012), the latter in the company of trumpeter Paolo Fresu. In 2013, the album Eggün pays tribute to Miles Davis' classic Kind of Blue . Two years later, the pianist exiled in Spain dedicated Ilé to his native island. In 2017, Omar Sosa releasedTransparentWater, an album produced with kora player Seckou Keita.
