The Brazilian group Os Travessos play a genre of samba known as pagode, a style known for its festive atmosphere and pop hooks. Formed in São Paulo by percussionist Chorão, percussionist Rodrigo, bassist Edimlison, keyboardist and singer Fabinho, and vocalist Rodriguinho, the group performed under various names before settling on Os Travessos in 1996. That same year they released their debut album, Nossa Dança which included the single that established their identity, “Maravilha Poder Te Amar”. They would release six more albums, including Adivinha, Dito E Feito, and Pura Mágica over the next seven years before Rodriguinho left to launch a solo career. They brought in Filipe Duarte in 2006, but unexpectedly lost another original member, Fabinho, when he suffered a fatal heart attack in 2007. The group continued on, and in 2014 Rodriguinho rejoined Os Travessos, only to leave again after a few years. The quartet soldiered on releasing new material including the 2020 single “Me Fez Acreditar”.
