Son of the great Estonian conductor Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi is following in the same footsteps. Despite Neeme's influence, the conductor born in 1962 has made a name for himself in the world of classical music, devoting his talent to classical composers (Beethoven, Mozart, Bruckner, Mahler) as well as contemporary ones (El Khoury, Escaich, Arvo Pärt) and Estonian composers (Erkki Sven Tüür). Encouraged by Leonard Bernstein, his recordings of Sibelius (the Grammy Award-winning Cantatas) and numerous orchestral works have become benchmarks. A naturalized American citizen, Paavo Järvi conducts the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (2001 to 2011), the Deutsch Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris (2010 to 2016) and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. In 2015, Shostakovich's Cantatas were published with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. Guest conductor of London's Philharmonia Orchestra, he follows in his father's footsteps with the recording of Nielsen's six symphonies.
