Pablo Montero

Better known by the stage name Pablo Montero, Óscar Rodriguez (born August 23rd, 1974 in Torreón, Coahuila) is a prominent Mexican singer-songwriter and actor. First foraying into music in his teens as the frontman for the group Trébol, he soon enjoyed his first national chart-topper in the form of “Si tu Supieras'', and subsequently decided to part ways with the group in pursuit of a solo career. Heavily employing the use of charro hats on his cover artwork, the so-called ‘Ranchera Hunk’ created a distinctive visual identity which led him to gain international notoriety. His debut album, ¿Dónde Estás Corazón?, arrived in 1999, reaching number one on the Mexican charts. Later the same year, Montero landed his first TV soap appearance, playing a musician in Vivo Por Elena. This swiftly led to a plethora of acting roles in telenovelas like Nunca te olvidaré, Rebeca, Abrázame Muy Fuerte and Entre el Amor y el Odio. Simultaneously continuing to focus on his music career, he released a self-titled second album in 2000, which bore another national number one in the form of the hit single "Que Voy a Hacer sin Ti?" and resulted in an invite to perform at the White House on Cinco de Mayo. His third LP, Pidemelo Todo (2002), was another success, yielding the number one single “Hay Otra en tu Lugar” and the title track for the soap opera Gata Salvaje. Continuing to release albums annually up until 2008, he inked a deal with Universal Latin America – then known as Univision Records – ahead of his 2005 LP A Toda Ley. Meanwhile, he landed prominent parts in shows like Duelo de Pasiones, Fuego en le Sangre and Qué Bonito Amor, releasing an album which shared its name with the latter show in 2012 via EMI. He later returned with a string of singles including two in 2020: “Yo Busco una Mujer” and “Que Me Digan Viejo”.
