Sweden's Peter Tägtgren was born on June 3, 1970 in Grangärde in central Sweden. He is singer and guitarist with Hypocrisy, producer for Children of Bodom and Celtic Frost, and Pain's mastermind since 1996. For this band, he drew inspiration from Fear Factory-style industrial metal, and what began as a simple project became a mainstay of the genre. After Pain in 1996, Rebirth (1999), Nothing Remains the Same (2002), Dancing with the Dead (2005), Psalms of Extinction (2007) and Cynic Paradise (2008) followed with varying degrees of success. Although Peter Tägtgren is the only real member of Pain, he is accompanied by a number of renowned musicians from the Swedish metal scene. Peter Tägtgren managed to place two albums, Nothing Remains the Same (2002) and Dancing with the Dead (2005), in the top 10 best-selling albums in Sweden. In 2016, after five years of silence, Pain released a new album, Coming Home, ranked 40th in Sweden. Pain then remained silent for seven years before delivering three singles, "Revolution", "Go with the Flow" and "Push the Pusher", which introduced a new record, released in 2024, I Am . It reached number 33 in the German charts and number 41 in France.
