The brainchild of Michael Angelakos, Passion Pit is a hugely ambitious outfit that blends electro music and computer technology with good tunes, pop sensibility and serious lyrics. Taking the name of a slang term for drive-in theatres, Angelakos dreamed up Passion Pit as a solo project in his dorm room while a student at Boston's Emerson College in 2007, writing the songs that ended up on his 2008 debut EP Chunk Of Change as a present for his girlfriend. One of the tracks, Sleepyhead was used in various advertisements, paving the way for Passion Pit's debut album Manners in 2009 and the line-up expanded dramatically. Also from this album, the track The Reeling became a US hit as Angelakos's techno-based music started to incorporate different dance styles alongside its melodic base. Another track Let Your Love Grow Tall featured in the TV series Ugly Betty and Moth's Wings was included in Gossip Girl.
