Patricia Andrzejewski(Pat Benatar) first revealed her talent while still at school and won a place at New York's famous Juilliard School studying classical music. However, she dropped out to marry her boyfriend Dennis Benatar and became a bank teller. A Liza Minnelli concert inspired Benatar to return to music and she got a job as a singing waitress, which led to further work singing with a lounge band, Coxon's Army. Her big break came in 1975 when she sang a Judy Garland song at an amateur night and was signed up by club owner Rick Newman, who also became her manager. She then landed a part in rock musical, The Zinger and, developing her hard rock vocal style and sexy image, released her breakthrough debut album In The Heat Of The Night in 1979; which included the major hit single Heartbreaker. Second album Crimes Of Passion cemented Benatar's success, which was built around her raunchy image and big sound, and, with the continuing run of hits such ash Invincible, Love Is A Battlefield and We Belong, she became queen of adult orientated rock.
