Singer, songwriter, and rapper Paul Russell's journey began in Dallas, Texas where he grew up with a deep passion for making music. During his high school years, Paul Russell was already drawn to performing live, and armed with his ukulele, he started booking gigs at local spots such as cafés and pizza shops. In 2017, his star began to rise with his debut single “Youth” - a collaboration with Jet Trouble - which garnered over 315,000 online streams, putting him on the musical radar, a feat that he followed with a collaboration with Christian artist Ruslan titled "Via Text.” After graduating in 2019, he made the move to Los Angeles, California while working a corporate job during the day and in March, released his debut solo album Once in a Dry Season, featuring genre-blending tracks like “Kalamazoo” and "Kimbo Slice.” By 2020, he began making his mark on social media, gradually building a dedicated fanbase, and it was this commitment that resulted in an impressive collection of singles, including "FaceTime (4g LITE)" (2020), "Hallelujah" (2021), and "H4U" (2022), accumulating over four million streams. In 2023, Paul Russell released "Lil Boo Thang," a pop hip-hop track that sampled the Emotions’ 1977 hit "Best of My Love.” The song became a social media sensation and was featured in over 50,000 posts and reached millions of views. With its catchy fusion of modern vocals and a timeless sample, "Lil Boo Thang" climbed to number 37 on the Top 40 Radio Pop Songs chart in September 2023. The following year, he released a series of singles – “Say Cheese,” “Eat Pray Love,” “Slippin’” (featuring Meghan Trainor), and “Homecoming” – before issuing his again sometime? EP in 2024.
