Pedro Messone was a renowned Chilean folk singer and actor, born on June 6, 1934, in Temuco, and raised in Valparaíso. His career spanned nearly six decades, during which he became a central figure in Chilean music and theater. Pedro Messone first made his mark in the 1950s when he co-founded the neo-folk group Los Cuatro Cuartos alongside Luis Urquidi. The group helped revitalize Chilean folk music. After moving to Santiago, Pedro Messone’s acting career took off with his debut in La pérgola de las flores at the Teatro Ensayo de la Universidad Católica. However, he eventually shifted his focus back to music, forming Los de Las Condes, which found success with the hit "El corralero" in 1964. His solo career, launched in 1966 with the album El solitario, produced several popular tracks like "Pa' mar adentro," "El ovejero," and "El cigarrito." Throughout his career, Pedro Messone was a regular at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, and in 2018, he was honored with the prestigious Premio a la Música Nacional Presidente de la República. He passed away on June 1, 2023, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Chilean music and culture.
