A founding member of the progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator, guitarist and keyboardist Peter Hammill (b. 1948) is simultaneously paving the way for a personal and innovative career, highly diverse in its musical approach. Since Fool's Mate (1971), the songwriter has left his mark with the albums Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night (1973), Nadir's Big Chance (1975, considered a precursor of punk), Over (1977) and The Future Now (1978) and Enter K (1982). In 1991, this singer with a distinctive voice set up his own Fie! label, releasing new recordings (including his first, Fireships) and reissues. His constantly evolving body of work includes Roaring Forties (1994), None of the Above (2000), Incoherence (2004), Singularity (2006) and Thin Air (2009). The Consequences album, released in 2012, is followed by a collaboration with Gary Lucas for Other World (2014).
