Peter Jöback is a Swedish pop singer and musical theater actor whose roles include the titular character in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on June 4 1971. Attending Adolf Fredrik's Music School in Sweden, he became a skilled performer at a young age. His debut album, Peter Jöback, was released in 1993. Two years later, he starred in the first production of Kristina från Duvemåla, a musical written by ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. The show's soundtrack became a multi-platinum success in Sweden. Jöback's next solo album, Personliga val, was also a success, reaching number 2 on Sweden's Sverigetopplistan chart. 2002's I Feel Good and I'm Worth It also charted at number 2. It was followed later that year by Jag kommer hem igen till jul, Jöback's first chart-topping solo release in Sweden. He remained at Number 1 with Det här är platsen and Storybook, both of which were released in 2004, as well as 2006's Flera sidor av samma man. While continuing to release pop records as a solo musician, he also maintained his career as a stage actor. Jöback performed the leading role of The Phantom in the West End's version of The Phantom of the Opera in 2012, then took over the role on Broadway in 2013. He reprised the role on Broadway in 2018. Back in Sweden, he continued charting hits with songs like "Jag Kommer Hem Igen Till Jul" and "Decembernatt (Halleluja)," both of which reached the Top 40 during the early 2020s.
