Pimp C is a pioneer of hardcore rap in the American South. Founder in 1987 of Underground Kingz (UGK) with Bun B, he established himself as the champion of a new style. While Underground Kingz became a phenomenon with three albums close to the street, Pimp C was incarcerated in 2001. It was from the penitentiary that he managed to release his album The Sweet James Jones Stories in 2005. Sentenced to eight years, he was released after four and released the album Pimpalation at the end of 2006. One year later, on December 4, 2007, Pimp C was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room. The exact circumstances of his death remain unknown.
